El Patrimonio: Leading Texas Toward a Cleaner Future
Ashtrom Renewable Energy is in the pre-construction stage of the El Patrimonio utility-scale solar power plant, located in Bexar County, Texas, and spanning approximately 867 acres. Following the successful acquisition of land rights and a grid connection agreement, construction will begin in 2025, with commercial operations expected to commence in 2027.
Once operational, the facility will have a generation capacity of approximately 150 MWac —enough to power an estimated 37,000 households and reduce approximately 194,000 tons of CO₂ emissions each year.
CPS Energy (Aa2 rated), the nation’s largest municipally-owned provider of electric and natural gas services, will purchase approximately 70% of the electricity produced by the solar facility—along with the associated green certificates (RECs)—under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) at a predetermined fixed price. The remaining output is expected to be sold within Texas’s open electricity market
